EAST LONDON – The African National Congress women’s league Eastern Cape(ANCWL EC) hosted its 7th provincial conference at the East London International convention center(EL ICC )in DR WB Rubasana region under the theme ‘Advancing action towards the full liberation and emancipation of women.’
The ANCWL 7th Provincial Conference was attended by several members and supporters, among them was Provincial chairperson of the ANC Eastern Cape Oscar Mabuyane who congratulated the ANC women’s league for successfully hosting the conference and further said, “The leadership you are going to elect here must be fit for purpose and be ready to mobilize the women of this province and their families to vote ANC in the next elections, it must be a leadership that is willing, ready, and proven in wearing boots to be foot soldiers of changing people’s lives positively.”
The women’s provincial conference 2023 aimed to provide a platform for insightful discussions on the challenges faced by women in society and to strategize on ways to overcome them. Deliberations during the conference covered a wide range of topics including women’s political representation, economic empowerment, gender-based violence, and access to basic services.
The newly elected president of the ANC women’s league national Nokuzola Sisi Tolashe was present in this conference and shared a few words of gratitude,” I really want to appreciate the work done from the time the Presidential Task Time (PTT) was appointed because when the National Task team and Regional task team were elected our organization was in ICU it was dead however, we did not give up. Since the appoint of these structures we are here today with more than 500 branches in good standing , there was zero this is where we are today,”Tolashe.
The election took place at the 7th Provincial Conference at East London International Convention center East London,30 July 2023.

3. Secretary: Cde Siphokazi Sivuyise Mani-Lusithi
4. Deputy Secretary: Cde Nomakhosazana Nongqayi
5. Treasurer: Cde Nonkubela Pieters
With this new leadership, the ANCWL promises to rally women towards achieving greater gender equality and empowerment. Strategies to elevate women’s participation in politics and leadership, the ANCWL Eastern Cape has also assured to make significant progress in promoting a more inclusive and progressive society.
