The 17th Annual ICT Summit took place from 22-23 November 2023, at East London International Convention Centre (ELICC). This year’s summit focused on “Cloud Usage and Digital Infrastructure 2.0.” The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, innovators and technology enthusiasts to explore the latest trends and advancements in cloud technology and digital infrastructure.
The summit featured an influential speakers, including Eastern Cape Premier Hon. Oscar Mabuyane, Former UCT Vice Chancellor Prof. Mamokgethi Phakeng and directors from international organizations such as Microsoft.
“The issue of connectivity is not a luxury, it is also a necessity to reduce the cost of doing business and is also a security matter in an environment where crime is rife. So, we appreciate private sector partners such as SA Connect, Vodacom, MTN, and USAASA for investing in ICT infrastructure in our communities,” said the EC Premier Hon. Oscar Mabuyane.
The Annual ICT Summit 2023 is an event that recognizes the importance of digital infrastructure in the creative process. This year, there was a special focus on how digital infrastructure contributes to the success of creatives in the entertainment industry.
The summit included masterclass on Sound Production and Performance by Lindo Mtangayi, led by industry experts, which will explore cutting-edge technologies, techniques, and trends in the music industry.
It also included The Entertainment Summit(TES) official launch by the award winning artist Bethusile Mncinga, Umhlobo Wenene broadcaster Mafa Bavuma and Dj Luckeez. East London Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) gave away awards to 30 trained high school learners from Ebeneezer Majombozi High School and the Centre of Excellence High School through our Science and Technology Park (STP) in Game Development.
“I never went to school to study for it but I learned it through the digital platform such as YouTube and now I am a qualified sound engineer. Me and Mafa use social media positively and it’s a platform for us to try and collaborate with other sectors with our entertainment sector,” said Betusile Mcinga.
“Money is in digital content, it’s not about likes but it’s about monetizing the content, it’s not only about pushing videos but it is money business. In 2024 we will be looking at what to do in the next coming 39 years,” Executive Chairman of ICT Summit Motse Mfuleni.
