TLOKOENG(Mt. Fletcher) – At the Mount Fletcher Magistrates Court two murderers of a 50 year old woman who was stabbed to death while her physically challenged daughter was made to watch, were denied bail by the National Prosecution Authority(NPA).
The accused Linki Kholisa(35) and Lucky ‘Sigebenga’ Fihlani(44) had premeditated planned the murder according to the state witness.
On or before 11 June 2023, the two men were in one of the state witness’ house were they had allegedly planned the murder, the accused Kholisa allegedly recruited others to go and kill the deceased a tarven owner whom he resented. He then went on to borrow a knife but was never given then at about 3am, the allegedly armed themselves with knives and went to the deceased house forcefully kicking the door open to gain force entry.
At the time of their arrival the deceased was asleep in one room with her physically challenged 15 year old daughter. The deceased tried to make an escape out the window but was overpowered and dragged back inside then she was brutally stabbed to death as her daughter watched. Sadly that was all she could due to her condition.
The accused then helped themselves to the liquor that was in the fridge and in a moment of pride and arrogance, they went to the witness’ house where they offered the witness the stolen alcohol but not before bragging about what they had done.
The witness then alerted members of the community who apprehended them and handed them over to the police.
At the bail hearing, the Magistrate agreed with Prosecutor Funeka Ndleleni, that the accused failed to prove exceptional circumstances for their release on bail in a serious case of gender-based violence and that they are indeed a flight risk.
In addition the e case has been postponed to 26 July 2023 for further investigation.
In due time justice will be served for the peace of the 15 year old teenage girl who was made to watch while her mother was murdered.
This is a clear example of the impact of the community has on ending crime. If we do not speak up and protect criminal we run the risk of further polluting our communities with crime.
