EAST LONDON – Eastern Cape Department MEC Fundile Gade convened a meeting with the top management of department of education to tackle the critical reports of the department, also to discuss how they plan to again increase 4.5% in grade 12 results.
The MEC tried to ensure that the top management are not carried by manifestation. MEC Gade mentioned the collapse of the social infrastructure in the country. “If the social infrastructure is there in governance space and society in education, the department and teachers can see if the learner does not meet the desired outcome”, said Gade.
During the meeting, placement training of teachers was discussed, “The education systems wants to produce teachers by training pupils in the present rather than in the future when it in demand to avoid problems,” Gade.
The department is trying to avoid training people who are clueless about being an educator, instead train those who understand the system better.
Therefore, universities may have to be called to be told that the department of education is changing route and would require them to conduct research on their content along the ambitious centre they are.
The Department of Higher Education and Training should look at the patterns of Department of Education in the country and advise that schools shouldn’t discriminate students but find a way to accommodate every learner. In that way the Department of basic Education and Department of Higher Education and Training can find a solution to place learners in the tertiary institutions by looking at the desired improved economy for the country.
In 2022, the Department of Education in Eastern Cape produces 63000 learners out of the ±100000 students enrolled grade 12 and only less than 40000 were accepted in tertiary institutions, hence,
The Department of Education and Training and Department of Education have to collaborate on ensuring prospective students get placement according to their needs and career path designed for them.
