KWANOBUHLE – Eastern Cape premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of nine (9) people who passed away in two separate incidents.
In the first incidents, six people were killed by unknown gunmen, and other injured at Kwanobuhle in Kariega last night.
“We condemned this senseless killing civilians over the past couple of months our Province has endured a spate of mass shootings especially in the Nelson Mandela Bay area. As the Provincial Government, we will spare no effort in ensuring a safer society that is free from such incidents and any kind of violence,” said Premier Mabuyane.
“We also offer our heart-felt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this brutal manner as well as wish those injured a speedy recovery,” Premier added.
Mabuyane has further called on law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in hunting down the attackers.
The other three (3) people burnt to death inside a hut while observing the women’s rite of passage known as Cenyu village in Tsomo.
Premier sent deepest sympathy to the families of the deceased, saying that, “it is an unfortunate incident and a very sad one for the families that were undoubtedly looking forward to the celebrations at the end of the days of seclusion which are part of this cultural practice.”
