HIGHER EDUCATION – The situation might escalate from bad to worse for National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS) CEO Andile Nongogo, this comes after the board highlighted that the might be irregular activities in his cooperation with Sector Educaton Training Authorities(SETA) and the newly implemented method of direct payments by the organisation.
NSFAS Board chairperson Ernest Khosa stated that,”The board commits itself to transformation and clean governance at NSFAS and will ensure that any activities that defeat the purpose of serving students from poor and working class backgrounds are adressed decisively”.
However the board also indicated that this is not a pronunciation of guilt towards the CEO, but an effort to summon the allegations.
A thorough investigation will be conducted CEO will be placed on leave of absence and Chief Financial Officer Maile Ramorwesi will be acting CEO until futher notice.
The organization runs a multi billion rand budget developing skills and empowering the growth of the economy, Walter Sisulu university student NSFAS beneficiary Sandisiwe Sikenke said,” I knew something is not right within the organisation, especially with the direct payment issue I hope solutions come up from the investigation so that the rightful beneficiaries can benefit, we are hungry and its painful for us as students”.
