NYANDENI – Nyandeni Local Municipality held a highly successful day one of the Nyandeni Local Municipality Investment Summit 2023 on the investor Summit is scheduled to kick in from 07 to 08 September 2023 at Dan’s country lodge near Mthatha, aimed at promoting sustainable economic development and attracting public and private sector investment to the region.
The Summit successfully convened representatives from a wide range of sectors to showcase the investment prospects available within the municipality. These opportunities hold the key to unleashing the municipalities development potential, igniting growth and establishing a conducive investment environment. The summit, which took place recently, aimed to attract both local and international investors and promote economic spin-offs and local economic activity.
During the summit, Nyandeni Local Municipality Mayor Viwe Ndamase expressed the municipality’s openness to major investments and highlighted the importance of collaboration between investors and the local community. The council has identified diverse priority sectors that have the potential to create economic opportunities and bring about positive change in the region.
MEC of Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism Mlungisi Mvoko Dedeat emphasized on what needs to be done, “This time we need to identify the areas we want investors to invest in, as a province we must commit as there are times where the premier calls on all the missions outside the country to come invest and we have to pitch as a province. After this investment confidence we want them to identify those areas and give it to us.”
Nyandeni Local Municipality has taken a proactive approach to improve the investment climate in the region by inviting representatives from the public, private, and traditional sectors who have a current or potential interest in investing. The aim is to showcase and promote a variety of investment opportunities available in Nyandeni LM by presenting their investment project pipeline.
During the summit Executive Mayor of OR Tambo District Municipality Mesuli Ngqondwana said,”we are most fortunate because as we speak we are at the stage of finalizing what is called KSD presidential intervention project, which provides bulk infrastructure to the areas of Nyandeni that include Ngqeleni, libode, parts of King Sabatq Dalindyebo(KSD), Mthatha and Mqanduli that process entails the laying out of the huge pipes and construction of reservoirs,”added Ngqondwana.
The Investment Summit played a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the District Development Model, as well as the municipality’s Long-term Development Plan: Vision 2030 and Integrated Development Plan. It aimed to unlock the development potential of the area by facilitating the implementation of Local Catalytic Projects and improving the local investment climate.
Overall, the summit was a resounding success, with participants expressing great interest in the investment opportunities presented by Nyandeni LM. The municipality is optimistic that the event will lead to increased investment in the region, resulting in job creation and sustainable economic growth.
