TSOMO – Two people have lost their lives while two sustained severe injuries in a head-on collision involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Avanza on the R409 road in Tsomo just before 40 Junction.
The crash occurred at about 04H00 on December 26th.
A Corolla with 2 males from Tsomo collided with an Avanza also with two male males from the 40 junction direction.
According to Eastern Cape Department of Transport, “both occupants of the corolla died on the scene while the 2 occupants of the Avanza sustained severe injuries. Jaws of live had to be used to free them from the wreckage and were taken to Cofimvaba hospital for medical attention.”
In addition driving under the influence of alcohol cited as main contributed factor for the crash.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Tsomo SAPS for further investigations.
