MTHATHA – Eastern Cape Primer, Hon. Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, delivered a speech at the Methodist church Mandela Day Legacy Program, 23rd of July 2023 at Mthatha. The theme of the event was ‘Reignite Mandela’s vision, values, and principles.
Mabuyane emphasized the importance of the church, government, and working communities working together towards a common goal of justice, freedom, and equality. Premier called on the church to be an encouragement for social change and asked the government representatives to manifest Mandela’s vision in their governance.
Premier highlighted the progress made by the sixth administration in reducing unemployment and rebuilding the provincial economy.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me”- he quoted from Gospel of Matthews on the Bible.
Mabuyane urged everyone to remember that they are the keepers of Mandela’s legacy.
In addition Mabuyane closed with a quote from Mandela that it is in our hands to create a better world for all who live in it. Therefore, as children of the late Father Nelson Mandela the ball is in ‘our court’ to build a better South Africa as long as we work together.
