Just in – A tragic taxi accident on the N2 highway towards Butterworth just outside East London has claimed the lives of two individuals and left several others injured. This occurred when the driver of the taxi allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Two people were pronounced dead on the scene, while twelve others sustained injuries of varying degrees. The injured victims were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The identities of the deceased and injured have not been released.
The Spokesperson of the Department of transport in the Eastern Cape Unathi Binqose said “The MEC of the Eastern Cape Xolile Nqatha is calling on all road users to be more vigilant as roads are wet and slippery due to the weather conditions and there is limited visibility and these conditions are expected to remain the same for the rest of the weekend”.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to be vigilant and cautious on the roads.
