Residents of Amathole and OR Tambo District Municipalities have been warned to be cautious of heavy rains that have so far caused destruction to people’s homes including damage to roads and bridges.
Villages that have low-lying bridges have been requested to be extra vigilant and to avoid these bridges. High water levels have been observed in parts of Coffee Bay and the Green’s Farm area in Port St Johns Local Municipality.
Residents are advised to contact the emergency department of their ward councillor to report any damages. Both municipalities have said further information will released to the media once preliminary investigations of the damage have been concluded.
