Access to broadband services in South Africa remains unequal and expensive while there are around 41.2 million internet users in South Africa, the country’s online penetration rate is 68.2% of the total population.
This move allows local enterprises, government, and businesses large and small to join the digital revolution through liquid’s services, empowering them on their digital transformation journey.
Dr.Geyser added that,
“Liquid has invested heavily in the province since then across a raft of initiatives aimed at fostering innovations and empowering citizens with digital skills, even in the farthest part of the province. It has been over R300-million into extending its operations in the region, connecting more than 900 government buildings, and created over 600 permanent and temporal jobs.”

We firmly believe in the all-around development of the community, and that is why in 2021, we opened our first digital learning centre in Mthatha. To date, we have up skilled over 150 unemployed youth and learners. This initiative formed part of liquid’s commitment of empowering youth South Africans and future entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to become part of the digital revolution,” Dr.Geyser said.
In addition the Deputy Director General(DDG) responsible for ICT in the province Lindelwa Dakata said, “we appreciate the office to be located in East London as in terms of our plan, in that say every region will be part of the plan for connectivity.”
DDG continued,”we are concentrating on government sites in the entire province including our regarded as poor district municipalities such as Alfred Nzo and O.R Tambo, we are also focusing on rural schools as well as well as health facilities as they all are facing poor network connectivity, the mentioned will also benefit in this opportunity.”
The launch of its new office in East London took mark on 22nf June 2023 and it marks a significant milestone in its commitment to delivering exceptional services and driving innovation.
