EAST LONDON – In a life of bravery, a 24-year-old Lisakhanya Ntsomi from Reeston/Dice in East London, is a testament of having to face and overcome the devastating challenges of heart failure. Her story is one of tough decisions and ultimately a remarkable strength that inspires all who hear it.
Diagnosed with heart failure at an early age year 2020, Lisakhanya Ntsomi found herself confronted with an impossible choice her own life or that of her late son. It was a decision that no one can ever make. With immense courage, she made the heart-wrenching decision to undergo a life-saving heart surgery, knowing that it meant losing her precious baby boy after being pregnant for a period of eight months.
Supported by her loving family, Lisakhanya embarked on a journey of healing. After giving birth, she underwent the heart surgery she so desperately needed. While the physical pain may have subsided, the emotional scars still linger for her. However, she has found solace in accepting her loss and determined to live a healthy life, taking all necessary precautions to care for her well-being.
In addition Ntsomi had this to say, “I had critics and comments at first especially from my community because of my scar of the heart operation and after being hospitalized for two months I got negative comments from people that I went to hospital pregnant and came back without a baby,” Ntsomi.
Despite her strength and determination, Ntsomi faces another hurdle – finding suitable employment, due to her health condition she is unable to engage in physically demanding tasks or lift heavy objects. This limitation has made securing a job a challenging task. However, Lisakhanya remains determined to find a path that accommodates her health needs.
Lisakhanya’s story serves as a reminder of the power of resilience, the strength of familial support and the courage to make difficult choices in the face of adversity. Her unwavering spirit is an inspiration to all, reminding us to cherish our health, make the most of every day and embrace the opportunities life presents, no matter how challenging they may be.
