ENGCOBO- Six people has lost their lives while 3 sustained injuries after a single vehicle lost control and overturned on the R61 road in Ngcobo near Nyanga Senior Secondary school towards Mthatha.
The incident occurred on the Christmas Day at about 11H00, when a Ford Ranger double cab with 9 occupants, coming from Msintsana location in Ngcobo overturned.
Five occupants died on the scene while one died on arrival at Alsaint Hospital in Ngcobo.
“The deceased are 4 males (2 adult males and 2 boys) and 2 adult females,” Eastern Cape Department of Transport Spokeperson Unathi Binqose emphasized.
According to Eastern Cape Department of Transport, “the 3 injured are all males including the driver. They were taken to All Saints Hospital in Ngcobo.”
The main cause for the crash still unknown at this stage.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Ngcobo Saps for further investigations.
In addition, MEC for provincial department of transport Xolile Nqatha has sent all deepest condolences to the affected the affected families.
