ALICE(UFH) – After the release of a press statement by the National Prosecuting Authority(NPA) in the Eastern Cape on June 7, 2023, a mistake was made on the issued statement about the Asset Forfeiture Unit(AFU) having obtained a provisional restraint order against the property of Walter Qusheka, the director of Garden to Floors PTY LTD, trading as Qush cleaning services, a company implicated in the University of Fort Hare corruption.
The responded Yandiswa Sonamzi was falsely added to the accused list including Vuyokazi Qusheka, Yolisa Songca, Thobile George and Lungelwa Mfinwana.
The charges of fraud and corruption against Vuyokazi Qusheka and Yolisa Songca were withdrawn, leaving only Walter Qusheka, Thobile George and Lungelwa Mfinwana whom are set to stand trial for their alleged crimes involving the University of Fort Hare.
The NPA has since apologised for this mistake in their communications department.
A minor mistake made but still does not take away the hard shifts the NPA has been putting in for this case.
