WILLOWVALE – In a bid to uplift their community and provide a positive platform for its youth, the TZK group is set to host the fifth Kwantu Annual Arts Festival on 14 October 2023 at Mboya School Grounds in Ward 30, Willowvale.
The event’s main purpose is to inspire the youth in arts so that they do not join the bandwagon of drugs, teenage pregnancy, and crime.
“The concept of Kwantu was born out of the TZK group’s own cultural journey which began in 2006. Witnessing the talent within our community, we decided to involve other youngsters in this event by showcasing local artists,” said Ongeziwe Ntshuntsha manager of the TZK Entertainment group primary co-op.
Kwantu brings to light the immense creativity and potential that exists within their midst. Collaborating with artists they have previously worked with and introducing new talents, Kwantu promises an extraordinary cultural experience to the people of Willowvale who are encouraged to come in their numbers to support young people in arts.
“As the name suggests, Kwantu embraces an IsiXhosa theme, we encourage attendees to wear their traditional attire proudly,” she added.
While the event primarily focuses on South African culture, Kwantu also aims to foster cultural exchange, working closely with diverse communities, this unique collaboration of culture allows for the sharing of knowledge and understanding, fostering unity among different cultures. The TZK group also gives back to the community by donating essential items and providing much-needed support to those in need.
“This time we tried to include sports because we know that not everyone will like art, the main vision is for the children and parents that will be attending to get inspired and join us in this venture,” Ongeziwe concluded.
Kwantu is not just another event; it is a testament to the power of unity, creativity, and community empowerment. By celebrating culture and inspiring youth, Kwantu festival is paving the way for a brighter future. “Join us at this remarkable event and witness the transformative power of talent, culture, and community coming together in harmony.”
