QONCE – In the heart of Qonce, Doctor(Dr) Nikita Gagu,26, a young and passionate dentist and medical aesthetic doctor, has embarked on a remarkable journey driven by a desire to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility and aesthetics within the local community.
Dr Gagu holds Bachelor of Dental Surgery obtained at University of Western Cape, year 2020.
Motivated by the lack of accessible oral health care and medical aesthetic services, Dr Gagu envisioned a space that could cater to these needs closer to home. “My initial motivation was seeing a lack of knowledge among our people,” Dr Gagu said, emphasizing the necessity for accessible healthcare without the need for extensive travel.
Dr. Gagu’s journey towards medical aesthetics stemmed from personal experience when she encountered skin problems. Attending courses opened her eyes to the broader spectrum of medical aesthetics, inspiring her to expand her services to include skincare treatments addressing various concerns like hyperpigmentation and skin care issues.
“At the core, my greatest motivation was serving the community,” Dr. Gagu highlighted.
She envisioned a practice that not only offered conventional oral health treatments like crown work, veneers and braces but also delved into medical aesthetics, including Botox, fillers, non-surgical facelifts and e-facelifts.
The establishment of her practice wasn’t just about providing healthcare; it was a beacon of representation. Being a young black woman in the industry brought encouragement and support from the community. Patients appreciated the emphasis on community upliftment and the opportunity to support a business that resonated with their values.
“Owning this business has been a journey of personal growth,” Dr. Gagu reflected.
The experience taught her invaluable leadership skills while fostering growth within her team, enabling them to handle patient care with grace and empathy.
Celebrating its first year in the current year, Dr. Gagu’s practice, while not purely measured in numbers, stands as a testament to the growth and impact it has achieved within the community.
“We may not have extensive figures to compare, but the growth I’ve experienced personally and as a team has been immense,” she stated proudly.
